Spring Sunrise Training at Weihai Kung Fu Academy
As winter slowly gave way to spring, students of Weihai Kung Fu Academy welcomed the new season with sunrise training beneath blooming trees, fresh mountain air, and the peaceful beauty of nature awakening around us. These training sessions, guided personally by Shifu Qu, took place across several breathtaking locations surrounding the school, including a beautiful garden within the village, the nearby temple grounds, and the scenic paths of Shengjing Shan Mountain in Shandong, China.
In the early morning light, the garden seemed almost dreamlike. The peacefulness overflowed through the atmosphere as colorful flowers began to bloom and beautiful trees swayed gently in the spring breeze. Surrounded by nature, students practiced traditional Chinese martial arts in the environment they were originally meant to be experienced in — not separated from nature, but deeply connected to it.
During these sessions, Shifu Qu instructed students in the traditional 24 Forms Yang Style Tai Chi, while other students practiced Ba Gua Zhang circle walking and Praying Mantis Kung Fu forms. Watching the different arts being practiced together created a unique atmosphere of harmony between movement, discipline, and nature itself. The garden reflected this connection beautifully, reminding students that traditional martial arts are not only systems of self-defense and health cultivation, but also practices that teach balance with the natural world.
Training outdoors added an entirely different dimension to the experience. Breathing in the fresh mountain air while practicing movements at sunrise brought a deep sense of calmness and clarity to both mind and body. Students could feel the connection to the earth beneath their feet, the cool spring air moving through the trees, and the warmth of the rising sun gradually illuminating the mountains. These elements became part of the training itself, helping students develop awareness, grounding, relaxation, and focus.
At the nearby temple and throughout Shengjing Shan Mountain, the quiet atmosphere encouraged students to slow down, breathe deeply, and become fully present in each movement. Whether practicing the flowing movements of Tai Chi, the spiraling footwork of Ba Gua Zhang, or the explosive techniques of Praying Mantis Kung Fu, every location offered its own lesson and energy.
Daily life at Weihai Kung Fu Academy combines traditional martial arts training with immersion in Chinese culture and nature. Students train closely with Shifu Qu in a welcoming and supportive environment while experiencing life in a peaceful village setting surrounded by mountains, gardens, and historic sites. For many students, the experience becomes much more than physical training alone — it becomes an opportunity to reconnect with nature, cultivate discipline, improve health, and experience traditional Chinese martial arts in an authentic way.
For those who have dreamed of training Kung Fu, Tai Chi, or Ba Gua Zhang in China, springtime at Weihai Kung Fu Academy offers an unforgettable experience filled with beauty, tradition, and personal growth.
