Training

 

At Shengjing Mountain we use traditional Chinese martial arts training methods. The training will develop both your internal and external Kung Fu, which in turn will teach you how to balance your body and mind. This balancing of internal and external is the ultimate goal of training and creates a well rounded martial artist. The core focus of the training is on forms and applications. The forms are a set pattern of moves that teach various Kung Fu moves and skills. Then in the application class, students learn how to use the moves from the forms. To aid with their Kung Fu studies students will also do running, stretching and calisthenics. Finally, internal training comes in the form of Tai Chi and Qigong. In sum, this training works both body and mind both externally and internally.

When teaching Master Qu will assess each student and adapt his teaching to meet the needs of each student. This helps to bring out the best in each student and allows them to learn at a pace that best suits them. He has developed and refined his teaching methods from his many years of teaching experience.

Form Training

"Forms" are defined movements in which the movements of a fight against an imaginary opponent are carried out. The techniques of forms should save your own life in the past. So these are very effective; so effective that they can often be fatal. Therefore, you can only train part of the techniques on the partner, other more dangerous techniques are not practiced on the partner, but you perform these techniques without a partner. This is how you can defend yourself if you are seriously attacked, but do not injure anybody in training. Hence the guiding principle "Run a form as if you're fighting. Fight as if you run a form" should always be in the mind of the practitioner.

Application Training

The "application classes" include the application of the techniques that you learn in form training. The movements are practiced with a partner to internalize the understanding of the movements in the forms.

Body Conditioning

With partner techniques and with the actual fight you cannot avoid touching the opponent or being touched by him. Toughening exercises help to deal better with contact. In addition to the experience of contact, the body is strengthened, making it less sensitive to external influences. Body conditioning can be done e.g. with the help of a partner or trees.

Power Training

Power training is an intensive whole body workout in which all muscle groups are strengthened. Typical tools for such training are your own body, dumbbells or other weights.

Power Stretching

The more flexible the body, the easier it is to move smoothly. High kicks or low stances are just two of the advantages of good stretching. Stretching exercises are carried out every day and intensified again in the special power stretching class.

Massage Class

Chinese massage can be used for rest, relaxation and mainly for releasing blockages (e.g. releasing energy blocks of the meridians). Various massage techniques on the subjects of back massage, neck massage, head massage or full body massage are taught.

All teaching units together result in a uniform, balanced training. The body is hardened, strengthened, but also smoother at the same time. In addition to external development, internal development also plays a major role. All this helps to increase your own level, to better understand your own body and to be able to walk and understand forms better.
